Porches and siding
A porch is the first thing to go on an old house, because it is the part that meets the weather head on.
We rebuild porch floors and posts on sound footings, replace rotted clapboards and shingles with matching boards, and repair trim to the profile that was there. Paint and primer are part of the job.
What's included
Porch footings, floors, posts and rails rebuilt
Clapboards and shingles replaced to match
Trim and cornice repaired to the original profile
Flashing and drainage corrected where water enters
Priming and painting, set up for old paint

Cost
What changes the cost
No figure here, because the building sets it. These are the things that move it.
The porch's condition
A new floor over sound framing is a short job. A porch pulling away from the house is a long one.
Lumber
Rot-resistant species and milled trim cost more than stock boards and last longer.
Height
A three-story gable needs staging.
Paint
Prep for old paint adds time; the survey says how much.
How it goes

Failed boards and posts are removed and what's behind them checked.
- 03
Step 3: Rebuild

- 04
Step 4: Prime and paint
Everything new is primed on all sides before it goes up.
Questions about this work
Do you match old trim profiles?
Yes. We take a profile from what's left and have knives cut or mill it in the shop.
